Evaluation

What we did
The task we were set was to create a short interview about mobile phones. We were set with a series of questions to ask the interviewee such as what their mobile phone meant to them and what they use their mobile for.

How we did it, Techniques used, Technology, Style, Formal/Informal
We first found interviewees and they were filmed whilst answering the questions that were asked by one of the group, following the rules of docmentary the interviewer is out of the shot at the time, and the interviewee is talking to the interviewer on the far right or left of the camera.

After the interviews were filmed all of the clips were edited together to make a mix between both interviews using Adobe Premier Pro. The style that our group was going for was informal, this can be seen by the people interviewed which were collage students.

What went well, What did not go well
As a whole the editing and camerawork went well, the use of editing made the clip flow and create a big clip of the interviewers which fitted together. The editing also allowed for cutaways to be added over the clip whilst the interviewee is talking about their phone.
The interviews as a whole went well as the clips were following the codes and conventions of documentaries, such as the interviewee being at one side of the camera and the use of graphics to introduce characters through the use of the editing

What did not go well was some of the cutaways were filmed under a different format so it did not overlap the clip as a whole so some of the clip was seen in the background behind the cutaway.

Why it went well, why other parts did not
The interviews went well as a whole due to camerawork, the documentary as a whole followed the correct codes and conventions of documentaries such as the interviewee being introduced through the use of editing software and that they were filmed on the far side of the left or the right of the camera.

Some reasons why parts of the prelim did not go well was due to the first interview being filmed outside, this caused problems as the sound was not fully picked up and there were interuptions such as sound of the wind being picked up on the camera

What would be done differently next time
If the documentary was filmed again what I think would be changed differently would be a few more cutaways may need to be filmed as there were nly few during the end of the clip, also the choices of interviewees may be changed so there would be mixed opinion on the subject of phones as others interviewees such as middle aged people may have a different use for their phone to what a student would
