Here are the results in chart form with conclusions drawn with each of them:

The pie chart shows that the majority of our questionnaire participants were male. For our first question we asked 30 people what gender they are and 12 were female and 18 were male. From this information we can gather a general statistic of whether gender affects what take aways people like and where they go for them.

For the above pie chart we can collate that a large proportion of our participants were 20 years old. By asking this question we can see what type of take aways different age groups prefer. None of our respondents were above the age of 24 so this may give a biased result; however, we can focus on the opinions of younger people who are more likely to be the ones buying take aways. By conducting the rest of this questionnaire and researching take aways further we can answer this question accurately.

Our participants were asked what their favourite type of take out is. The point of this question was to search what the most popular kind of take away is amongst different age groups within society. By gathering this information we can choose a take away that we can mainly focus our documentary on and research in a greater depth. This pie chart shows that the majority of participants’ favourite take out was Dominos as 1/3 of them chose it. The least popular favourite type of take out put forward was Thai food.

Participants were asked how often they usually eat take outs and the majority of the responses were to once a month. As the pie chart shows, 12 people said they ate them once a month, 8 people said they ate them once a week, 10 people said they eat them ‘other’ which probably means more than once a week or occasionally, and no one said never.

The participants were asked which their least favourite take is out and the majority responded with Indian. 18 out of 30 said that Indian was their least favourite take out so it got over half of the votes. We can use these results to interview various Indian take outs to try to find out why they aren’t as popular as take outs such as KFC which got the majority votes of most favourite take out.

Half of the respondents said that they spend roughly £5 to £10 on take aways when they do get them. We can research this and find out whether or not certain take outs offer deals and find out the different price ranges for various foods. One problem with this question is that it doesn’t specify whether it is collectively as a family or in a group or individually, however, this is something we can look into.

We asked the participants where they eat their take outs, few of them said they eat it where they buy it from (‘takeout place’), and the most common answer was at home as 14/30 of them chose this response. From this we can not only think about using peoples’ homes as mise en scene, but we can think about when to put on our documentary as people are most likely to be watching TV whilst eating.

As we can see from the chart, the most popular choice of who to eat your takeout with is with friends. 17 out of the 30 respondents said that they tend to eat takeouts with friends, 10 said they eat them with family and 3 said on their own. From this we can see how people go about different takeouts in the sense that they may eat a McDonalds on their own but may not eat a Chinese meal on their own. This is something we could ask interviewees and have voxpops where people are being asked the same questions but giving their own answers.

This chart shows how popular home cooked meals are in comparison to takeaways. The voting total was close but home cooked meals had the majority of votes as there were 14 votes where as takeaways had 12. A small number of 4 votes went to both takeaway and home cooked, this shows that people could have chosen both but had a preference of one or the other. This information could be used to compare popularity and what type of home cooked food is more favourable than a takeout. We could then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both.
Exactly half of the respondents said that they eat takeouts because they are fast, this can relate to a previous question stating how long it takes for them to get a take away. 13 people said that they buy take aways because they are easy, this meaning that they do not have to actually cook anything, if they get them delivered then they don’t have to travel to get one and they don’t have to wait as long for their food.

As the pie chart shows, a very large proportion of the results were 0 to 1 mile of their home as 28 out of 30 chose this answer. Two people said that they travel 1 to 2 miles for their takeout and no one said they travelled further. From this we can collate how many various types of takeaways there are and how local they are to different villages in Warrington. We can also look into how many different franchises each majority takeaway has in the UK and list which ones are global.

The penultimate question was whether they go and pick up their take out or whether they get them delivered, some people responded with ‘both.’ The majority of them said that they collect them, this vote was 13 out of 30, then 12 of the 30 respondents said they get them delivered. However, 5 of them said they do both. We can research into why people do these things, discussing advantages and disadvantages of both.

This question discussed the various ways in ordering a takeout; online, by phone or going in. Most people, 16 out of 30, said that they phone up to order a takeaway. This could be because they are getting it delivered or so they only have to make one trip to collect it rather than waiting around for it. 8 people said they order online, this shows how popular and useful the internet has become over time. 6 people said they go in to order a takeout, this could be because you cannot order online or by phone and have to physically order it in person. We can look into this and research what take aways offer different methods of ordering. An example of this could be McDonalds or Subway.

This pie chart shows that the majority of people expect their take out to be made within 15 to 20 minutes as just under half of the people who did our questionnaire chose this option. However, the rest of the people doing this questionnaire bar six expect their take out to take less time.
This pie chart shows that just over half of the people who took part in doing our questionnaire (17) do not get a drink with their take away.

Over 80% of people that took part in answering our questionnaire claimed to be drawn in by deals that they are given. These things could include buy one get one free offers and meal deals, so only 4 people would not be drawn in by these deals.
Exactly half of the people that took part in answering our questionnaire stick to their regular take away, however just under half like to try something new when they go out for a take away.  The rest of the people who did our questionnaire did a bit of both, sometimes they stick to one take away but like to try something else for a bit of a change.
Over half of the people that answered our questionnaire said that they would change the price of the take away more than anything else. However, other choices include the taste, portions, the time it takes to make them, and that they should be healthier overall.
Well over half of the people doing our questionnaire said that while they eat their take away, they also watch television, with only 8 people saying they wouldn’t.
Just under half of the people answering the questionnaire said that they eat at six, with all of them eating 5 and onwards. The options with the least amount of votes were five and nine, proving to be the least popular with our audience.
A large majority of people doing our questionnaire said that they would only watch a documentary on BBC, closely followed by Channel 4, with ITV proving to be the least popular option.

Well over half of the people doing our questionnaire said that while they eat their take away, they also watch television, with only 8 people saying they wouldn’t.

This pie chart shows the various types of food that our respondents buy when they purchase take away food. As the chart portrays, the majority of the participants said that pizza was their usual order for a take out. We can use these results to discuss which places do which food and see which are more popular in terms of what foods they sell.

The three most popular choices for the people answering our questionnaire were seven, eight, and ten onwards, meaning our documentary should be scheduled at one of these times in order to gain the largest audience we can.

The most popular choice of programme according to our questionnaire is comedy, closely followed by anything. The least favourite type of television programme is quiz according to this questionnaire.

Just under half of the people that did our questionnaire said that they never listen to the radio, which could make it difficult to promote our documentary via radio. However, the second most popular choice was in the morning, so that is when we shall put on our radio advertisement for to gain the biggest audience.

The most popular choice of font from the audience was ‘other’ and examples were given, these were things like comic sans and such things. However, the second most popular was Broadway, with the least popular choice being Lucida Fax.

This chart shows that the majority vote went to black, which will most likely be used in our documentary so the audience do not get distracted from the main theme of the documentary. This was closely followed by blue, and white, as colours that would appeal most to the audience of our documentary.

In this chart we see a draw as the two most popular choices of music to use for our documentary are ‘Easy listening’ and ‘relevant’ so we will try to find music which is relevant but easy listening at the same time.
